This birthday week – in 2025, began on the evening of June 27 and lasted through July 6th.
June 27
Had lunch in Chicago, with a colleague. We visited the Oasis Cafe. I had the spinach pie combo. The falafel was amazing!
The way home was straight forward, stopped by the junction till it was time to board the train. Swung by the Explorium Brewpub on the way home.
June 28
Went to a tiki party.
June 29
Slept in, skipping the morning workout. Took a 90 minute bus ride to see Paranormal Cirque. Great performances, really fun time… bought a cute mask.
As I started home, I started pouring rain down hard. I ran into Macy’s and bought a $40 umbrella because – why is it?
Went to the Explorium Brewpub for a bite hoping I would not have to sit in the rain. The food was good. The umbrella wasn’t necessary. I placed it in my birthday present pile.
June 30
Introverted day in.
July 1
Braces removed. Read about some delicious waffles that I should try from a nearby cafe.
Swung by Crimson Guild and snagged a MTG deck.
Lunch at Thai-namite who makes a delicious Futo-Maki. Great beverages from Fiddleheads. Picked up my retainers and had a delicious pineapple bundt coconut cake from Kelly’s Greens before heading home and calling it a night.
July 2
Checked out a couple of bike stores. Found a bike I might like.
Picked up my CSA order. Ran into & had a beer with a friend in the park along the way.
Swung by Onesto for a meal.
Mario Kart league!
July 3
After exploring another bike shop, suspect that I know what bike to buy.
What was supposed to be a boring day of planning and cooking for the following week took a turn into seeing fireworks or something.
July 4
Had planned to go to the beach.
It rained so I chilled out. Took a nap. Bought Forza Horizon 5 Premium. That’s a fun game.
July 5
Beach!!!!
Wanted to buy a dress and eat at a restaurant nearby. Ended up – putting on a dress from my closet and having a burger at Brisa Do Mar.
Ended my night having a beer and catching up with friends at my favorite brewery.
July 6
Happy Birthday! It rained.
Let my friends at OTF capture me in a tutu.
Grabbed my new umbrella and went to Full of Beans cafe to try their awesome waffles.
Learned about what makes the Vortex V2 so cool on my way to Adventure Rock. Had a cocktail from 1846 on the way home the swung by the National Bobblehead Museum where I found Waldo!
Wanted a slice of cake or a cookie or something from a local bakery, turns out they were closed so, grabbed a cookie cookie sundae with butter pecan ice cream and heath crunch crumbs from Ben & Jerry’s; paired it with a Door County Cherry Wheat beer in the park.
