I’ve been pondering the question, “How would someone else describe you?”
One of my favorites that I’ve heard was that I’m tenacious.
Then something else popped into my head.
A phone call that I had when I was about 18. Maybe I was younger, I don’t quite remember. It was with someone I used to play house with when we were 9.
He looked me up, for some reason, and called because he absolutely had to tell me something, “I felt like I was never enough,” he said.
I chuckled, “Erik, we were 9. I mean, what would I expect of a 9 year old? Weren’t enough for what? I mean it was 9 years ago and, like, we were 9 there’s nothing I can do about that.”
He laughed back, “Well, you’re laughing at me for what I am saying about when we were 9, but what about you , when you get older and this comes back?”
“That’s a good point, I’ll have to try and keep note on that.”
We had a nice chat. I never heard from him again.
Here I am, remembering and realizing that I am quite tenacious, but I need to let go of that. At the same time, I’m still chuckling.
I was 9 and this poor kid felt like that so much that he called me after 9 years. I realize how long ago that phone call was and damn!
