It’s been a long year, but then again; what year isn’t? This year, for me, was filled with doctor’s appointments, food, data – and more data – and, as always, art.
I’d like to send off this year, 2022 – sharing a piece I finally completed while attending the Academic Approaches and Experimentation with Oil Paint continuing education course at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD). The decision to take this course came as a sort of no-brainer when I had a stunt in my development with colored pencil drawings.
I learned a lot during this class, including that my instincts on technique were on point. There are a few newer ways to layer painting and that is something that I may want to explore later.
What I am most excited about is the completion of this painting that has been sitting, unfinished, since I first started working with oil in 2017.

And here are some more great works that were created during the course.
