I’ve taken a small break from blogging this week, as I’ve been busy packing and moving to a new place in the Milwaukee Historic Third Ward.
My decision to choose this location was due to massive introversion, the fact that it’s near MIAD (Milwaukee Institute Art and Design), Blick, and countless social outlets – like the Public Market.
Yesterday, as I was getting to know the area a little better, I walked into MARN, the Milwaukee Artist Resource Network. This art gallery with a coffee and wine bar had me smiling. As I walked in and enjoyed all the works, I found myself taken back by Sampler, a series of oil on poplar works by Christine Westrich. Starting on a white gesso surface, Christine provided a dark oak look and feel to a background and introduced us to some brightly colored birds and included fine lines in the background.
After wandering around MARN, I stumbled in to several other galleries where I learned that, there are a lot of art studios and galleries in this neighborhood. I’m looking forward to gallery night on July 16th.
