Under Exposed

It was a warm in in Austin, Tx; when I set out to take an oil painting course. I studied under Jen Balkan.

The course did not last long, but I came home with many paintings of the same person.

This is one of those paintings that I just completed. The MDF board started to rot a little and I couldn’t abandon the canvas, so over five years later – I completed it.

I went with sepia to emulate a photograph. I felt as though this painting required a sense of stillness to it. Unfortunately, I ran too dark with this one. Still, the texture, and the feel is quite awesome.
